I think Apple will do with the next generation iPhone and the new iOS as they did with MacOS Lion and the refreshed MacBook Air's and Mini and drop them together.

It is conceivable that they don't even drop the next iPhone at all this year after looking at their sales numbers the last quarter for the iPhone 4!

A few bugs to mention is that Office is not yet compatible, SMART Boards Drivers are not yet updated to Lion and there is no ETA for that. There are some Directory issues as well as a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

hehe yep!! The sooner the better on iOS 5. I love it, although I am not going to say anything publicly about it ;)

Just out of curiosity what are some of the kinks that you are experiencing with Lion?

And again, that's all speculation. Although I tend to agree with you on a few of those points not from rumor mills but from thmanuracturers reporting on orders from . I think we will have the dual core CPU just like you said and more than likely the multiple chipsets for carriers, but, beyond that who knows. Nothing has been announced yet, anything we think would be speculation and EVERYTHING you mentioned has been stated by people as a matter of fact for the past several releases and has never come to fruition.

As far as the release, remember  uses a fiscal year rather than calendar year so having it be third or fourth quarter means nothing to them as it is not their third or fourth quarter. That being said I think it will definitely be in the third quarter of this year. I doubt it will be fourth quarter, but it may. The biggest indicator for me, is iOS 5. They are getting close to releasing it and they won't release it until the iPhone 5 comes out. I think mid to end of September is right on schedule for them. But I seriously doubt it would be any earlier than about September 20th or so. Probably later rather than earlier.

It will have the same processor as the iPad 2 or better, maybe an 8 Megapixel camera, more RAM and maybe an edge to edge touch screen.

Maybe even a 64GB version this time and a Qualcomm chip that make it multi-carrier compatible (GSM, CDMA, ect.). Look for it the beginning of Q3
