I am an Apple Geek

21 Mar

I am an  geek, that much is obvious, I obsess over my apple gadgets and of course generally I must have all the latest and greatest. At home it is just my wife and myself yet we have more apple computers and toys than a normal household of 4 would. My co-workers have taken notice to this obsession and even have placed bets on my ability to go without apple gadgetry. I personally like my devices too much to indulge them, but recently a co-worker made a video based on his experience with me that is oddly quite accurate and so I wanted to share it with all of you. This video is inspired by my recent 25 hour wait in line (and camp out) for the iPad 2 *WARNING: BRIEF OBSCENE LANGUAGE AND INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT*:

Getting ready for the iPad 2

23 Feb

Apple today sent out an invitation to select people to their upcoming March 2nd event which will presumably announce the iPad 2. And so it begins the uncomfortable wait between when we find out about the new Device and when we can actually get it!! Sadly during this period I usually can think of nothing BUT iDevices, it drives my wife and co-workers crazy. Just 1 week from today and we will find out about the new iPad 2.  There has been much speculation in recent days, a lot of news reports going around, everything from an iPad 3 in September to the delay of the iPad 2 until June or July. I tend to not believe much about what the rumors say until I see it for myself. Some of the things we’ve heard about the new iPad are more memory, Facetime and even speculation about a higher resolution screen. I guess we’ll just have to wait to find out until March 2nd. In the meantime, speculate on!!

Of course the topic of the iPad is just speculation but take a look at the invitation and you device for yourself:

*MY* Top 10 iPad Apps

14 Nov

Although there are many iPad apps that I really like and that will vary from category to category, there are several apps that I use on a very consistent basis (practically every hour of the waking day).  These are the apps that I like the most and get the most use out of.  For the sake of this post I will not be including any native apps in this top 10 list.  Obviously I use quite frequently apps like the Calendar app and the iPod app as well as apps like YouTube and Maps.  But the purpose of this list is to give you an idea of the App Store apps that I feel bring me the most value.  I will give you a short description of each and then later link to a full review of each app.  Every app that I list and/or review is an app that I have purchased.

Here they are listed in order of how much I use them, 1 being the most:

Just Another Tech Blog

14 Nov

This is attempt 3 at a blog.  I’ve wanted to blog about things for a while, but perhaps I’ve made a few mistakes over the past few attempts.  The first blog was too political.  Even knowing how many of my family members felt about politics (on opposites sides from me) I decided to do a blog about how I felt about politics and religion.  This didn’t work out so well.  I found myself either moderating my posts for the sake of not upsetting family members OR I went off the deep end in some sort of a rant.

My second attempt was a good attempt, meant to be more about me and my family, but the problem I found  was, (plain and simple) I live a pretty boring life.  I found it hard to find things to write about.  This didn’t make for a good blog either.  So I came to the conclusion, either it is time to stop pretending to want to blog, or find something that really means something to me.

So, for attempt number 3 (and hopefully the last) I have decided to make this Just Another Tech Blog.  Yes I know there are plenty of them out there.  And although I don’t anticipate being unique in my posts, I will always be genuine and write my own posts rather than re-posting what others have said.  I am not here to report on Tech based news, but rather I’d like to tell you (sort of a reviews type blog) about the Tech items I really like, and have tried, and why.

One of my biggest passions in life is my iDevices.  I love my iDevices practically more than life itself.  There is a bet at work (Worth $500) as to whether or not I could go a full 48 hours without touching or talking about iDevices at all.  I am not ready to go down that road, plain and simple because I love my iDevices, so why even bother trying to go without them??  For those of you who love other devices, that is fine with me, and while I may consider them substandard as I am sure you do the iDevices, I really don’t care about what Android does better than the iPhone.  That isn’t the point to my blog.  My blog is to review the devices and applications I have used and tried, and to tell you, the reader, why I think you should or should not get them.

Happy Reading!
